"When Portland Europe was established in 1997 as the first on-line software
distributor in the Benelux, one thing was paramount: everything must be based above
all on quality and simplicity. These characteristics are still reflected in both our
products and services, and also on our website. Even so, there have been some
changes. For instance, we now make a conscious choice to provide only software that
we consider has the best price-quality ratio for users and the best margins for our
resellers. Products in this category are extremely popular with the organisations
and end users that opt for our software. In fact, many of them are turning away
permanently from the 'big brands'. We therefore believe that the time is ripe to
encourage many more organisations to make this changeover.
At the moment, companies are being extremely cautious when it comes to investing in
new technology, while at the same time realising that by investing now they can gain
a substantial lead over their competitors. This opportunity generates demand.
Customers are looking for affordable, stable solutions that are easy to install,
manage and use, both by systems and network managers and by end users. In recent
years, it is the solutions devised by the slightly smaller software producers that
have been especially successful in meeting all these criteria. Portland Europe is
therefore inviting its business partners to cooperate on an offensive to make these
first class products top-of-mind among customers and resellers. This will benefit
everyone. It will generate more sales and profits for the producers and resellers,
and create more satisfaction and opportunities for the client. In other words, it's
a win-win situation. Which is as it should be. After all, doing business is a team
sport, which means that you also always share your success with others."
